Community Action

Orange County's Community Action Division was formed in 2001 to empower low-income families and individuals to become more self-sufficient.  It is designed to change people's lives, embody the spirit of hope, improve communities and eliminate the cause and consequences of poverty.

Poverty is often a consequence of life's tragedies - illness, job loss, divorce, or disability - events that can destroy a family's ability to maintain adequate financial independence.  Under the direction of the Orange County and Board of County Commissioners, federal and county funds are mobilized to generate public and private funding sources to alleviate poverty.  Programs and services are offered to help Orange County residents achieve economic stability, and attain beneficial life development information.
